Full job description (from employer)⌄

Sheffield I'm working with a well-established and highly regarded multidisciplinary engineering consultancy in Sheffield that is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Structural Engineer to join its growing structural team. This is a business with an excellent reputation for delivering technically interesting and challenging projects, combining the resources and expertise of a larger consultancy with the personal approach and collaborative environment of a smaller practice. They work across a broad range of sectors, with projects ranging from new-build developments through to the refurbishment, alteration and assessment of existing structures. There's a genuine variety to the work, alongside a culture that encourages engineers to share ideas, take ownership of projects and develop their technical capabilities. Importantly, this is a consultancy that places considerable emphasis on its people. They offer flexible working arrangements, free on-site parking, an excellent pension scheme and a supportive environment where professional development and long-term career progression are actively encouraged. As a Senior Structural Engineer, you'll take responsibility for the design and delivery of a varied portfolio of building structures projects, leading smaller to medium-sized schemes independently while contributing to larger, more complex developments. You'll be involved throughout the project lifecycle, from initial concept and detailed design through to construction, working closely with clients, architects, contractors and other engineering disciplines. There will also be opportunities to mentor junior engineers, review technical work and play an important role in the continued development of the team. Ideally, you'll have at least five years' experience within a structural engineering consultancy, with a strong background in the design of steel, reinforced concrete, masonry and timber structures. Experience working on both new-build and existing buildings would be particularly beneficial, alongside the ability to undertake structural assessments, condition surveys and produce technical reports. You'll be comfortable using structural analysis and design software such as Tekla Structural Designer, TEDDS or similar packages, with a working knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit. Chartered or Incorporated status would be advantageous, although experienced engineers working towards professional accreditation are equally encouraged to apply. Above all, they're looking for someone who enjoys the technical side of structural engineering, is confident managing projects and wants to be part of a collaborative team where their contribution is genuinely valued. For someone looking for interesting projects, greater autonomy and a consultancy that offers both career progression and a healthy work-life balance, this is an excellent opportunity.
