The business has a strong pipeline of work across Hertfordshire and the surrounding areas, with several new opportunities coming through across the education and leisure sectors. They're now looking to strengthen their commercial team ahead of a busy period. This would suit a Quantity Surveyor who has gained good experience with a recognised main contractor and is comfortable taking commercial responsibility for their own projects, or working as part of a larger commercial team on more substantial schemes. The Opportunity Projects typically range from £10m to £30m, with the successful candidate likely to take the commercial lead on schemes up to £20m or work alongside a Senior Quantity Surveyor on larger projects. There is a good mix of work coming through, and the business is particularly interested in surveyors who have been involved from the pre-construction stages through to delivery and final account. Key Responsibilities Managing the commercial aspects of construction projects from procurement through to completion. Overseeing subcontractor procurement, valuations, payments and final accounts. Producing CVRs, cost reports and financial forecasts. Managing variations, contractual matters and commercial risks. Working closely with operational teams to ensure projects are delivered within budget. Supporting the commercial management of projects under JCT and NEC contracts. Building relationships with clients, subcontractors and the wider project team. Getting involved in early-stage commercial activities and procurement during PCSA. What They're Looking For Previous experience working for a Tier 1 or established Tier 2 main contractor. Experience delivering education, leisure or similar construction projects. Ideally worked on schemes valued between £10m and £30m. Comfortable running your own project or acting as number two on a larger scheme. Good understanding of JCT and/or NEC contracts. Experience with two-stage procurement and pre-construction would be advantageous. Strong commercial awareness, particularly around subcontractor management, cost reporting and forecasting. Relevant construction or quantity surveying qualification preferred. What's on Offer? The opportunity to join a well-established contractor with a strong reputation and a healthy pipeline of projects across the Northern Home Counties. There is a clear opportunity to take ownership of your own schemes, gain exposure to larger projects and develop further within an experienced commercial team. The role offers a salary between £54,000 and £68,000 depending on experience, alongside a competitive benefits package and some flexibility around remote working. Interested?
